Part of a national campaign, the roadshow gets underway tomorrow (Tuesday 7 July) and will be touring the borough until 4 September.
The roadshow helps parents and children to find out the best ways to get fit, eat well and live healthier lives.
Friendly, trained advisers from the Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) will be on hand to highlight the range of free and low-cost activities open to residents - from walking, swimming and team sports, to dance, martial arts and racquet sports.
Residents can join in with fun activities such as cycling and dancing, and there will also be free giveaways available to those signing up.
Some roadshow stops will even feature a community chef demonstrating healthy Change4Life recipes that can be tried at home.
The ‘10 Minute Shake-Up’ is also returning to the roadshow this summer. Run by Disney, the activity is aimed at encouraging children to be more active by breaking the recommended 60 minutes of activity a day into bitesize chunks.
Visitors can also find out how Change4Life’s ‘Smart Swaps’ campaign can help them make healthy diet choices.
The Royal Borough is also working in partnership with ‘Good Food in Greenwich’ to provide a focus on good food available in the borough and try to encourage healthy eating habits.
Good Food in Greenwich celebrates the borough’s rich and diverse culture through vibrant food markets, festivals, catering and businesses and encourages people to grow, produce, prepare and share good food that is healthy, sustainable, affordable and accessible to all.
Cllr Denise Scott-McDonald, the Royal Borough’s Cabinet Member for Community Wellbeing and Public Health, said: “Working alongside the NHS to encourage exercise and fight obesity among local residents is a key priority for the Royal Borough and I’m delighted that our Change4Life roadshow is returning again this summer. It plays a really important role helping local families to focus on their health and find fun and informal activities that are free or low-cost.”
The Change4Life roadshow will be visiting local supermarkets, town centres and local parks between now and 4 September.
