A series of walking events are taking place across the royal borough in May to mark National Walking Month 2016. They are designed to raise awareness of the health and lifestyle benefits of walking, and are delivered by the royal borough along with the Charlton Athletic Community Trust and other partners.
National Walking Month is an annual campaign run every May by Living Streets, a group aiming to make the streets safer, more attractive and more enjoyable.
Among the numerous local events taking place this month is Foraging Fortnight, where a local forager will join some of the upcoming walks. It will be an opportunity to explore edible plants and trees in local parks and open spaces, and to find out what our ancestors ate in their diets.
