Plumstead Murder - Man Get Life For 2015 Murder Of Plumstead Resident

by Benson Agoha | Crime

A man has been jailed for life, for the killing in August 2015 of a plumstead resident, after he was found guilty of his murder. He will serve a minimum term of 22 years in jail.

A statement by the Metropolitan Police say, 20 year-old Osman Musa Mohamed (above), was convicted at the Old Bailey on Monday 7, March 2016 for killing Ahmed Ahmed on Llanover Road, Plumstead after stabbing him several times on 10 Agaust 2015.

But the police say they are seeking information about a person they are still looking to trace in connection with Ahmed's death.

Giving the backround to the case, Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Reeves, of the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: "Ahmed was set upon just metres from his front door by a group of men who had clearly gone there to commit violence."
"It only took a few seconds to inflict the injuries that resulted in Ahmed's death. In that brief moment, they robbed a family of a much-loved son and brother. One of Ahmed's sisters found him lying in the doorway, something she will have to live with for the rest of her life. She gave evidence at the trial, along with a number of other witnesses, whose bravery I pay tribute to."

"The defendant was involved in drug dealing, and the group had gone to the flats to attack another man. It appears that Ahmed died as he tried to prevent this from happening."

"I would urge anyone who is yet to speak with us to come forward. In particular, I want to trace a 22-year-old local man in connection with this enquiry. Ismail Saleban of Ritter Street SE18, may have left the country and travelled to Denmark or elsewhere in Europe. Police need to speak to him about this incident."
* Victim of mob attack: Ahmed Ahmed
Police were called by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) at 18:24hrs on 10 August 2015 following reports of a stabbing at flats in Turton House on Barnfield Road in Plumstead.

Officers and London's Air Ambulance attended the scene where they found Ahmed Ahmed, 24, suffering from stab wounds to his left leg. He was taken by LAS to an east London hospital where he died at 20:18hrs that night.

A post-mortem examination took place at Greenwich Mortuary on 12 August 2015; it revealed that Ahmed died from multiple knife injuries.

No everyone who was arrest in connection with the crime was convicted: Hussein Roble, 18 of Wrottesley Road, SE18 and a 20-year-old man were acquitted of murder following the trial.

Sazzad Khan, 20, of no fixed address was previously charged with murder and breach of an ASBO. On Wednesday 17 February the case against him for murder was discontinued. He was sentenced to six months imprisonment for breach of an ASBO.

Khalid Hashi 22, of Fennel Street, SE18, and Hamza Dodi 24 of Herbert Road, SE18 were previously charged with murder. On Monday 22 February the case against them was discontinued.

Three other people who were arrested in connection with the investigation were released with no further action.

The family of Ahmed said: "We have been left heartbroken and traumatised by Ahmed dying. He had his whole life ahead of him. We loved him so much, the pain will never go away and we will never be the same again."

Ahmed's partner said: "I was Ahmed's girlfriend and we were planning our future together. Two days before he was killed Ahmed proposed to me. I later found out I was pregnant with Ahmed's child but then suffered a miscarriage. I am now living alone in the flat we chose together. This has changed my life forever."

Enquiries continue to establish whether there are any remaining suspects who may have been involved in the murder.

Anyone who is yet to speak with officers and has information is asked to contact police on 020 8721 4868 or via 101.

Alternatively, they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

by Benson Agoha | Air Mishaps

Vice President Jo Biden Flies Into Israel Amidst Spate of Attacks, After Talks In UAE

by Benson Agoha | International

* US Vice President Jo Biden and UAE Leader,
HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum
United States Vice President, Jo Biden has now arrived in Israel after holding talks with His High Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum of the United Arab Emirates.

Providing an update, HH Al Maktoum said his meeting with Vice President Jo Biden enabled them to review regional political developments and security issues.

"Our relations with the US are strong" he said, adding "we are their leading regional trade partner, agree on many political issues and are building new ties."

The Vice President's arrival in Israel couldn't have been at a more tumultuous time. Only yesterday, it emerged that Prime Minister Netanyahu had chosen to postpone a planned meeting with President Obama, which was expected to begin a new rapprochement for the two leaders whose relations appeared to have thawed in the past one year.

But a clarification from Tel Aviv say the current spate of campaigns and touch election campaigns by various candidates including Jewish Bernie Sanders, informed his decision to avoid being accused of meddling into internal politics of another country. Today also in Jerusalem a Palestinian attacker killed a US tourist.

According to the Times of Israel, Biden landed at Ben-Gurion Airport in late afternoon, as Israel reeled from three attacks.

The three attacks occurred in Jerusalem, Petah Tikva, and in Jaffa, not far from where he held his visit’s first meeting, with former president Shimon Peres.

Despite the attacks, Vice President Biden told his hosts that the US “.. have absolutely, total unvarnished commitment to the security of Israel.” And expressed hope that both countries “..can make some progress” during his meetings in Israel and in the West Bank on Wednesday.

Plumstead Shopkeeper Has Been Fined £1900 For Selling Illicit Tobacco

* Cllr David Gardner
by Benson Agoha | Woolwich

A Plumstead shopkeeper has been fined a total of £1900 after pleading guilty at Bexley Magistrates’ Court on the 22 February to selling illicit tobacco and bottles of spirits subject to duty evasion.

Mr Sher Thapa told the court that he had bought the products from a man in a white van but admitted that he ought to have made more stringent checks before stocking the goods in his ‘All Save’ store at 19 Lakedale Road, Plumstead.

The court ordered forfeiture of the goods seized. Mr. Sher Thapa’s personal licence was suspended for a period of 12 weeks, meaning he is not permitted to sell any form of alcohol during that time.

The premises had come to the attention of Trading Standards on numerous occasions in the last 18 months for stocking bottles of spirits subject to duty evasion, stocking packets of chewing tobacco in contravention of the Regulation 14 of the Tobacco Products (Manufacture, Presentation & Sale) (Safety) Regulations 2002 and selling counterfeit cigarettes.
* Illicit Tobbaco
A multi-agency visit to the premises was conducted on 6 July 2015 led by Trading Standards Officers and officers from HMRC as well as a detection dog with his handler. Tobacco was found inside a black leather handbag hidden in a shopping trolley and on a fridge next to the main counter. Tests later confirmed that several packets of cigarettes failed the self-extinguishing test and a sample of the Marlborough Red cigarettes was confirmed as counterfeit.

Councillor David Gardner, Cabinet Member for Health, Social Care and Public Health said: "Cheap and illegal tobacco is a dangerous draw to both young and old smokers. There is a clear link between the availability of cheap, illegal tobacco and high smoking rates. We are working very hard to ensure that such products are removed from sale and that the shopkeepers are firmly reprimanded."

Cllr Jackie Smith, Cabinet Member for Community, Safety & Environment also stated: “All forms of tobacco pose a health risk but illegal tobacco which fails the self-extinguishing test can also be a serious fire risk. Those retailers stocking such products are endangering residents and we will continue our efforts to clamp down on such sales."

The investigation into the illegal practices at All Save were part of the Royal Borough of Greenwich's on-going campaign against illicit tobacco sales. Since 2013, the Royal Borough has been working with five other south-east London boroughs to tackle the sale of illegal tobacco, after a survey of 1,700 smokers found that an estimated 114 million illegal cigarettes, with a street value of more than £22million, were sold annually in the region.

Anyone who suspects the illegal sale of tobacco or alcohol can call the council’s trading standards team on 020 8921 8223 or
tradingstandards@royalgreenwich.gov.uk, or report it on the Keep It Out website at www.keep-it-out.co.uk.

Strike Looms Over Piccadilly Line After Balloted Rail Workers Vote Yes

by Benson Agoha | Industrial Relations

Strike on the Piccadilly Line is a clearer possibility, after an overwhelming workers union vote against comprehensive breakdown in industrial relations, according to a statement by RMT Workers Union.

An RMT ballot of nearly 400 train operators across the Piccadilly Line, for both strike action and action short of a strike over a comprehensive breakdown in industrial relations combining a range of issues has recorded massive votes in favour. 85% voted for strike action with an even larger number voting for action short of a strike.

The result will now be considered by the union’s executive.

The Piccadilly is the fourth busiest line on the London Underground network transporting an average of 600,000 passengers a day and services London’s Heathrow airport – the busiest airport in Europe.

* Map of Piccadilly Line
The ballot was called after a prolonged period of industrial problems on the line – some of which have been directly related to serious underlying issues with the aging Piccadilly Line fleet, the RMT statement said.

Those issues have left drivers in a vulnerable position and have been used by management as a tool to harass and threaten members through misuse of the disciplinary procedure. There has also been an appalling lack of consistency by local management when it comes to addressing the long-running issues impacting on the Piccadilly Line and which RMT, as the main driver’s union, has raised repeatedly over a number of years.
Those issues have now come to a head again and that forced RMT to move to a renewed ballot for a fresh industrial action mandate. That mandate has now been secured.

RMT General Secretary Mick Cash said in the statement that: “The wholesale abuse of procedures and agreements by management on the Piccadilly Line is rife and amounts to the development of a campaign of bullying, harassment and intimidation that the union will not allow to continue."

The General Secretary promised that: "RMT will not sit back and allow individual members to be picked off by a vindictive and aggressive management who are continuing to drag their heels over addressing fundamental safety issues which leave staff in a vulnerable and exposed position."

He said Nor will RMT "..watch from the side lines while our members are boxed into a position where they are left to take the rap for repeated management failures that the union has been raising for years now."

“The combined weight of these abuses and failures has built up to a comprehensive and fundamental collapse in industrial relations that the company have done nothing to address which left RMT with no option but to ballot for both strike action and action short of a strike."

“Our members have now voted overwhelmingly for action by a massive 85% . That result will now be considered by the union’s executive and should serve as an immediate wake-up call to LU’s management."

But he promised that the: “..union remains available for talks.”

The Look Of Liberation. But Social Media Got Kim K's Recent Post Wrong - It's An Old Pic

by Benson Agoha | Celebrity

Kim Kardarshian urged her fans, including the celebrity ones, to send nudity, even as she posted one of hers.

But those who picked on the photo mistook it for a recent shot.  She said they were wrong, and corrected tweeting "I'm flattered some of u guys thought my post earlier was a recent pic! That was my blonde moment a year ago & 25lbs less! ."

But by the time the clarification came, the photo had been retweeted several times over and already surfaced in some posts. 120 thousand retreated it while some 210 favourite.

But the iconic wife of Kanye West still posted up a new nude photo, with her modesty protected, saying "Librated", a seeming show of respect to her husband even as she took a swipe on Piers Morgan and Better Midler for criticising her.

She told him "hey never offer to buy a married woman clothes. thats on some ashley madison type shit ".

Kim also took another swipe on singer Bette Midler whom she told: "hey I really didn't want to bring up how you sent me a gift awhile back trying to be a fake friend then come at me "

Makes you wonder what we all have with nudity. Not that it is boring, nor ever will be.

Good to be liberated Kim. but since one person's liberation sometimes heralds the imprisonment of another, I wonder if your fans won't feel compelled to follow suit. That wouldn't be liberating would it?

Kanye West Reveals Plans for Stream-Only Music And Wont Produce CDs Any More

by Benson Agoha | Celebrity

* Kanye West: (Credit: via VLADTV)
Kanye West gave a new hint yet that CD's may no more be issued for his music. And he was only being himself when he tweeted "Uuuuum... hi everybody!"..."I was thinking about not making CDs ever again... Only streaming"

Later when he has made up his mind, he wrote: "uuuuuuum, so there it is... No more CDs from me"

Kanye also called the Yeezus album packaging "an open casket to CDs" before going into a spiel about people who've attempted to talk him out of being himself moving forward.

But for those who seem to have beef with anything he says, he asked: "uestion... Why do people not want me to be me?"

And without waiting for responses, he told his fans: "I want people to be the best version of themselves and I will be the best version of me."

But then, the replies came flooding in.

Akiva Huber - The International Scultor From Haifa

by Benson Agoha | Art

Art is a powerful tool for expression of ideas and feelings and for sculptors, it's even more so, as what they thing somehow, manages to be shown in unique ways. The thing is, great sculptors are almost certainly great artists for both work together perfectly.

It is not impossible to see their joint works in group exhibition as in solo ones.

Akiva Huber describes himself as a `second generation of holocaust victims'. And says "I found myself more sensitive and more aware of the duality of life". He says he focuses on the never ending struggle with `myself and with my surroundings'.

The Israeli from Haifa says, his experiences, find expression in his works such as "The Expulsion from Eden" "The Escape from Sodom" and "Absalom My Son".

"My sculptures typically express composition and connection between fluency, movement, round lines and their reflection of dual emotional spiritual goal. I try to express dialogue between open spaces and structures between pure beauty and movement reflecting sensuality and lust of life."

"I attempt to materialize the mysterious duality and the link between man and women in order to create figures both androgynous and homogenous.

"I am always passing from one sculpture to another with social conscience, challenging conventional material, expressing novelty and wit and the metamorphosis of shape and color."

"I am trying to express the human spirit through curved body language reflecting the time we live in. In the process of sculpting, the means and the ways are just as important to me as the final goal."

* In Court: Erin Andrews wiped away tears during the hearing.
FOX NEWS - A jury settled for and awarded $55 (£38.7) million to Erin Andrews on Monday in her lawsuit against the stalker who bought a hotel room next to her and secretly recorded a nude video, saying the hotel companies and the stalker shared in the blame.  She had asked for $75 (£52.8) million

Andrews, a Fox Sports reporter and co-host of the TV show "Dancing with the Stars," wept as jurors announced the verdict.

She hugged her attorneys, family and several jurors after the verdict was read. She appeared to sign an autograph for at least one juror.

During the trial Andrews told the Jury that she was `humiliated, shamed and suffers from depression as a result of the video', which has been viewed by millions of people online.

The stalker secretly recorded the nude video that of her in a hotel room and posted it online.

by Benson Agoha | Sports
* Maria Sharapova lives in Florida, United States

Corporate sponsors have announced their suspension of Russian Tennis Star, Maria Sharapova after she admitted in a press conference that she failed the test and takes full responsibility.

The star spoke in a conference from California saying she had been given a medicine that was not on the banned list for the past 10 years by her Doctor, but which had suddenly been added to the banned list in January 2016.

She said she did not want to end her career this way and hopes she would be given another to play the sport she loves.

Maria Sharapova Admits Failed Drug Test.

But her statement did not stop Nike and watch maker Tag Heuer from ending their relationship, even if temporarily.

Nike, which has had a sustained relationship with Sharapova since she was 11 years old, said the suspension will be in place while the investigation continues and that they will continue to monitor events.

"“We are saddened and surprised by the news about Maria Sharapova. We have decided to suspend our relationship with Maria while the investigation continues," Nike said, adding "We will continue to monitor the situation."

It is thought that other sponsors like American Express, Porsche, Evian and Avon are considering ending their relationship with the star.

Child Refugee Try To Make It Through Greek-Macedonian Border Barrier

by Nancy Weirh | International

As Europe move to check influx of refugee migrants across the Mediterranean to the continent, this latest photo shows what those already in parts of the continent are going through to reach new destination.

The photo shared by AFP shows a child inside a metal fencing very close to the Greek-Macedonian border near Idomeni.

Europe has of late began to pull back to Turkey any boats caught carrying migrants into the continent, but several thousands are still in Greece.

The unchecked wave of migrants has threatened the survival of the Schengen arrangement that binds some 26 countries to mutual unrestricted movement of travelers within it.

Of the 26 Schengen countries, 22 are in the EU while four are non-EU countries.

The pressure of migrant refugees from Asia, Africa and the middle east have forced even Germany to introduce border controls in recent months.

Britain is not a Schengen country and may soon be exiting the EU if planned oncoming referendum favours exit.
