* Co-Op Building, Woolwich.
Demolition work has begun at the former Co-Op Building on Powis Street, also called the Art Deco.
Located just two blocks away from TK Maxx, the building has been empty, derelict and thrashed, for several years, during which it was occupied by the homeless, pigeons and rodents.
It was eventually saved by the Town Centre Planning Committee which included it in the Masterplan in February 2012, recommending its conversion into "high specification residential development, with complementary, active uses on the ground floor, as well as smaller scale retail, cafés and restaurants".

An on-site workman told Woolwich Online that the demolition will be selective after which a refurbishment and conversion programme will take place.
According to the Masterplan, the restoration of the building will facilitate the change of the town centre from the "retail core, to what is the retail fringe, with a wider range of uses including leisure, community and culture."
