Interbrand, a US Business Consultancy Group, announced that Apple has now become the Best Global Brand, effectively ending Coca Cola's reign. Google is at number 2 slot.
In its Best Global Brands 2013 ranking, Interbrand said that Coca-Cola has been pushed to the 3rd slot, having been overtaken by Apple and Google.
The new ranking identified 100 best global brands,out of which only 5 are `Top Riser' brands.
The Top Riser Brands included Apple, US(Technology) at No.1; Google, US(Technology) at No. 2; Amazon, US(Retail) at No.19; Facebook, US(Technology) at No.52; and Luxury brand, Prada, Italy at No.72.
The data showed that, of the 5 Top Riser brands, four are American and one Italian.
The classifications show that among the top riser brands, there are three technology companies, one retail and one luxury.
The table, detailing the 100 best global brands and their rankings, show that the five best global brands have the following Brand Values: Apple, $98,316m; Google, $93,291m; Amazon, $23,620m; Facebook, $7,732m; and Prada, $5,570m.
The percentage changes in their brand values are as follow: Apple, 28%; Google, 34%; Amazon, 27%; Facebook, 43%; and Prada, 30%.
Despite all the hype in the media about Galaxy Mobile phone maker, Samsung's chances over Apple, the South Korean brand gained only one slot over its position of the previous year.
The table showed that in 2012, Samsung was at 9th position, but in 2013 it moved up one slot to 8th, with a brand value of $39,610m and a percentage change in value of 20%.
McDonald's was at 7th, gaining and losing no ground over its position for the previous year. It has a brand value of $41,992m and percentage change in value of 5%.
Popular champaign brand, Moet and Chandon, lost a slot, falling from 98th to 99th position, while US Apparel maker GAP, was last at 100.
Jez Frampton, Global Chief Executive of Interbrand, who anchored the introductory video to the Best Global brands ranking said, they congratulate new leader Apple, but more importantly too, they congratulate every brand that made the list.
The Chief Executive wrote "at the speed of business today, innovation often means moving outside of your company’s comfort zone. Big Data is no longer about “collecting it all,” but gleaning actionable, intelligent insights that move your business forward."
