* A brewery dream coming to fruition.
At our first meeting during the meet and greet at The Coffee Lounge, Woolwich, in August, James Yeomans come across as an ambitious and focused youngman. It is not surprising that he is behind the next brewery project Hop Stuff, due to arrive at the Royal Arsenal, Woolwich, shortly.
Implementation is progressing well according to plan. In fact, the outlook seems more positive than was foreseen, going by enthusiams revealed during Woolwich Online's research on the project.
Hop Stuff Brewery has enormous potential. And this is demonstrated by investor confidence, which appear to be very strong. Going by the success of its recent fund raising campaign, the brewery whose target was easily met, and surpassed, is good business.
Hop Stuff Brewery must surely have done more than a few things right. The sheeps are bleeting their name, just as the birds are chirping it. But when Mr. Yeomans set out on his fundraising, his target was only £3.000, to fund an initial product called `Gunners Porter'.
* Adjusted target met.
However, investor confidence and positive response have seen the project raise £58.000 through equity crowdfunding outfit, `Crowdcube', - well over an adjusted target of £50.000 - with more willing shareholders on queeue.
And James is also optimistic that traditional ales from his Hop Stuff Brewery, will be comparable in quality and price, to established brands.
A microbrewery can be a good thing for a community because, it brings in the usual help to locals through employment and adds to the image of the community, sells drinks to visitors who do not wish to visit the pubs, conduct tours for people who desire to see how a brewery runs, serves home dinners in unique flexible ways, as they can hop in and out to fill up thier keg - often in containers bigger than a bottle and smaller than a beer drum.
I witnessed some microbreweries first hand during my stay in Roussillon, Provence, France.
* Optimism on display.
We would hop into the car at evenings, while dinner was getting ready, drive a short distance round the corner and soon, we would be filling our keg with an aromatic liquid stuff..."Ah..someone is going to sleep well tonight...Mr. Benson would that be you?" My German host, Dieter would ask me.
I asked James, whether he intended to also run a pub at the facility. What are the implications? "No"..he tells me "it's for dinners, tours, and takeaway beers".
As James Yeomans told the Business Angels "...the response from investors was fantastic and puts us in a great position to launch our exciting new brand. We’re excited to now have a community of like-minded people that can play a real part in making our idea become a reality."
We at Woolwich Online wish the Hop Stuff Brewery every success in their endeavours.
