MADELEINE MCCANN: PORTUGUES AUTHORITIES TO RE-OPEN INVESTIGATION by Benson Agoha

* Madelein McCann.

Judicial Authorities in Portugal today announced they are to reopen their investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, the little British girl snatched from their holiday apartment in 2007.

The announcement, is a confirmation of wide speculation in recent days, in the wake of recent publicity and inroads made by the Metropolitan Police team, which has led to an issue of new e-fits of suspected kidnappers.

There has also been increased renewed awareness and raids over child abductions, even though some have been proved false.

The reopening of the case followed a meeting with the Portugues authority in Lisbon on Thursday October 17, 2013, attended by the Metropolitan Police team led by DCI Andy Redwood.

The Portuguese investigation is expected to run seperately from the British, although both teams will be co-operating.

Details released by the Metropolitan Police after the annuncement read "From the near future, MPS detectives from Operation Grange will travel regularly to Portugal under the terms of the ILOR in relation to the UK investigation.

On hearing the announcement, AC Mark Rowley, who was also in attendance at the meeting in Portugal a week ago, said "This is a welcome development but both investigations at relatively early stages, with much work remaining to be done".
