A man has been arrested from an apartment block on Powis Street, Woolwich.
The middle aged man was lying unconscious on the street in handcuffs, as police waited for an ambulance.
When Woolwich Online arrived the scene at about 7pm, two police officers were carrying him out of the house. He was already in handcuffs. Two officers then stood guard at the front door, while two others stood over the man.
The man's father was shouting from the first floor of the property that he had not seen his daughter. Police ignored him, and kept watch at the front door.
We asked one officer whether the suspect would be fine seeing that he had lain on the floor floor for sometime, but the officer told us that the suspect was faking his ill-health because he did not want to return to prison.
The officer said the suspect had been out to the grocery store wth his father and was racially abusing someone, then assaulting him.
He said that the man was fine as they led him down the stairs, but pretended to faint at the door when he realised he was been taken back into custody.
The officer said because they are not allowed to take patients to the hospital in their vehicle, they had to call for an ambulance, which has been delayed.
The ambulance finally arrived to take the man to the hospital for check-up.
The officer said it will not be surprising if the man is certified ok, after waisting their time.
