WOOLWICH: MAN FALLS DOWN AT BUS STOP PAVEMENT, WITH HEAD INJURIES by Benson Agoha

A workman fell down at a bus stop, breaking his head on the pavement and had to be stretchered to the hospital at 8.30 this morning.

The man in his forties, aparently tripped and landed on his head, breaking it. A pile of Metro Newspapers was at the scene, covered in blood.

The workman, believed to be attached to a nearby contstruction project, had just gone to collect about 20 Metro Newspapers from the Woolwich Arsenal Station, when he fail at 8.15am.

People going to work called the emmergency services and an ambulance arrived five minutes later.

When Woolwich Online got to the scene, he was being lifted unto the stretcher, still wearing his tool belt. His measuring and other tools were still hooked unto the belt. There was blood stains on the pavement and on the pile of Newspapers, still strewn on the floor.

Medics removed his Tool-belt and had him strapped unto the stretcher. Then lifted him into the Ambulance. He had head injuries and had lost some blood, but he was conscious.

We asked one of the Medics whether they knew the man and she said no. They did not know him and had not collected any details from him. They just wanted to get him to the hospital, first.

We were unable to ask the man questions either to find out in which of the nearby projects he was attached.

With his pile of Newspapers uncollected, his mates might have to wait a little longer to get the news.
