British Born Professor Peter Anyang, an academic and two-time former Kenyan Minister forced into political exile to Mexico, and his wife Dorothy, parents of Golden Globes Winner Lupita, have finally seen Steve McQueen's 12 Years A Slave.
The proud father and his wife, joined several hundred others in their Kimumu County district of the Kenya to see the award winning movie.
According to Kenya's Standard Digital, Lupita's father, a current Senator of Kisumu, Kenya's south western county, located close to famous Lake Victoria expressed pride in their daughter.

The proud father said the movie was timely because it dealt with a history that has not been reckoned with for many decades, saying "Africa gave a lot to the world through blood and sweat, yet it still suffers to date".
The senator praised the movie for bring to the fore what art can do, saying "Art has come out alive as a salvation to humanization."
People from all races, colour and religion sat quietly at Kisumu's Mega City's Planet Media theatre on Friday to watch the movie which has since captured the world, Standard Digital said.

Unfortunately, became a sad reminder of an ugly past and while a part of the audience braved it throughout, some were moved to tears after they saw the most recent portrayal of the plight of slaves in the 18th century.
Kenyan's flooded the theatre to see Lupita Nyongo'o in action and why she has become suddenly famous.
"We are here, not only to watch but also to understand the role played by the Kenyan girl, to make her stand out in the movie", said Salim Juma, a Kisumu resident.
