* Take An Apprentice, Make A Difference!
Today marks the start of the National Apprenticeships Week which takes place between `Mard 3rd to 7th 2014', and the Royal Borough of Greenwich is encouraging businesses to "take an apprentice and make a difference".
A team is promotiong the event by handing out leaflets to visitors at The Woolwich Centre, and sensitizing visitors to the start of.
On Thursday, 10th October, 2013, The Royal Borough of Greenwich held a Business Breakfast entitled ‘Employ an Apprentice’ during which employers were with an opportunity to gain information about Employing an Apprentice, and the many other support packages available to businesses which do so.
This week's event is asking employers to check whether there is a place for an apprentice in their team.
If you can offer an apprentice, a fixed-term placement (minimum of one year and 35 hours per week) and support them to become a skilled and competent member of the team, you benefit from fresh ideas and skills, new ways of working, the chance to grow and develop your team.
In exchange, the apprentice gets a qualification and experience in a supportive working environment through coaching, instruction and mentorin to the young person, besids the commitment to providing guidance and support throughout the placement.
Apprenticeship schemes are open to residents of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, with prioty given to those aged 16-24 years.
Potential Apprentices who live within the Royal Borough of Greenwich can register their interest at the Greenwich Local Labour and Business (GLLaB) office at The Old Library, Calderwood Street, Woolwich SE18 6QW. Alternatively, they can call Simone Crossley on 020 8921 2462.
