The much awaited arrival of a new
pub-restaurant in Woolwich is here as Anti London looks to launch ‘The Woolwich
Equitable’ at the Town Centre soon.

We first broke the news of the pubs imminent arrival in our post of Thursday, 27 February 2014,
but opening was delayed as a result of contractor issues.
But in a Press release made available to us, Antic London, owner of a chain of Pub Restaurants in parts of London,
said the launch of Woolwich Equitable, is due this summer. It will be their
first public house in the Woolwich area.
The pub occupies a space formerly used as a
banking hall. It is set to be a
welcome addition to the daily buzz of General Gordon Square.
Sitting in the very heart of the majestic Equitable House, the venue, will be an exciting amalgamation of other successful Antic pubs and is set to combine the busy events schedule of Tooting Tram and Social with the more quirky, food-led aspects of The Antelope in Tooting.
The statement said “…the beautiful marble clad venue really will offer something for everyone in the Woolwich area and beyond.”
Products include heavily driven, locally and regionally sourced and brewed beverages. The Woolwich Equitable will offer “a superb selection of real ales, draught and bottle beers, fine wines and spirits.”
Besides, customers can expect to see a variety of mainline classics, handpicked favourites and local specialties. It will serve an exciting, varied and ever-changing wine menu and fresh summer drinks, which will “keep you on your toes.”
The Woolwich Equitable’s kitchen will launch soon after the pub opens, and will serve “snacking plates and hearty main dishes, with a contemporary twist on British pub food.”
It has a late license until 1am (Thursday – Saturday) and says customers should expect to see everything from vintage fairs, comedy and open mic to DJ’s, bands and other music-led nights. And with General Gordon Square already playing host to a variety of community-led events, Woolwich Equitable will welcome families, children and dogs.
The interior of the pub is an intriguing mix of grand marbles, vintage décor and quirky design features inspired by the building’s original function.
“Its friendly charm and strong community focus makes Woolwich Equitable the perfect destination for an after-work pit stop, or a weekend hang-out”, says the statement.
