At last, this year’s much awaited Tall Ships Festival, is here. It will take place between the 5th and 9th of September, 2014.
Organised by the Royal Borough of Greenwich and Falmouth, owners of Tall Ship J.R. Tolkien, a preview to the event started when Tolkien visited the Royal Borough in April 2014.

The visit marked the begining of promotional voyages from the Royal Arsenal Pier, through Maritime Greenwich to the City, passing through London's iconic Tower Bridge.
Unlike to 2013 edition, this year’s event will feature a total of 50 tall ships that will be arriving with some 1000 crew from around the world.
They will race from Falmouth in Cornwall and on arrival will be moored in Royal Greenwich.
Two Festival Villages have been announced. They are the Lebara Festival Village at Maritime Greenwich and the Royal Arsenal Festival Village at Woolwich.
There are also four Festival Sites all of which visitors are encouraged to sample. These are the Maritime Greenwich, Royal Arsenal Woolwich, Greenwich Peninsula and the Wood Wharf, Canary Wharf. Each of the sites have their unique attractions.
There will be various fees, so visitors are encouraged to check individual events for actual prices. The event is open to adults and children and there will be different activities including workshops, music and tours.
The crew of the Cutty Sark are already charged and are looking forward to the event which promises a spectacular fire-works display on the opening day on Friday 5th September, 2014.
