Tube Strike Slammed as London Underground Trains Grounded

by Benson Agoha | City of London

Commuters are today facing travel misery as the whole of the London underground is on strike after negotiation broke down between Union chiefs and the London Underground bosses on Tuesday night.

The strike which was due to start yesterday became effective today and all trains are expected to be grounded.

Last night when we checked around the city, some trains were still running up to 8.30pm despite initial fears that services would be halted earlier.

City workers reportedly left their offices earlier in the afternoon to avoid an imminent chaos, but when we called at the Monument underground station, commuters were still emerging from the station without any tale of a major disruption.

The Docklands Light Railway, classified as part of the Underground network, was still running as schedule.  But emerging reports say its all changed today, because even if the DLR takes passengers to Bank, the exit gates are under lock and key today, meaning commuters will be unable to emerge.

Yesterday, the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson slated the labour union for causing pain to the public.

Tube Trains are grounded today due to a
planned all-day strike.
