Fault On The Piccadilly Line Doors Now Identified, Say Workers Union

by Benson Agoha | Woolwich

The root cause of the fault on the Piccadilly Line doors have been identified according to a statement released last night by RMT workers Union.

A fault caused the train door to open while the train was in transit on Saturday. The incident  on the moving train run by Piccadilly Line on Saturday morning, prompted an inspection of all the trains on the Line.

Today, RMT Workers Uniion said appropriate tests have also been carried out by specialists as LU bosses work to assure the public on the safety of the fleet.

In a statement RMT said an enhanced system check for door engine failures will be introduced with immediate effect and that its representative will continue to take part in additional investigations in the failure reported on Monday morning.

"The case for continued safe operation has been issued by the Chief Rolling Stock Engineer and on that basis we are supporting our members in the return to normal operation", RMT says, and paid tribute to the "swift action of union safety reps who once again have proved that they are the front line when it comes to safe operation of services for passengers and staff alike."

The workers Union said it will continue to closely monitor the safety regime across the ‎tube network.
