Social Media Ban In Place in Turkey After Sundays Explosion

Turkish President Erdogan has been acused of using Sunday's deadly explosion in Ankara as an excuse to block Facebook and Twitter in the country.

Photos of the result of the explosion quickly surfaced on Twitter and Facebook after the incident which kill 32 and injured more than 125 on Sunday.

According to media reports, a court in Ankara ordered a ban on access to social media, including Facebook and Twitter, saying it was to stop people sharing images of the attack.

On Monday Turkey's Daily News reported that "An Ankara court ordered the blocking of access to social media, including Facebook and Twitter, in Turkey after a terror attack in the Turkish capital on March 13 killed at least 37 people."

"The Gölbaşı Penal Court of Peace justified the decision saying people were sharing photos related to the attack, which also wounded at least 125."
