New Terror Attack In Afghanistan Leave Scores Dead And Hundreds Injured

A new terror attack in Afghanistan today has left at least 28 confirmed dead while hundreds of others were injured, Fox News reports.

Armed militants stormed a key government security agency in the capital Tuesday morning as part of a coordinated assault, killing at least 28 people and wounding more than 320.

Also as part of the attack, Afghan police confirmed at least 28 people were killed when a suicide car bomber struck near the agency compound's gates.

After the explosion, armed gunmen stormed the compound and waged a prolonged battle with government security forces.

Breaking the news to the international media, Afghan officials said Taliban militants staged the coordinated assault on the country’s government security agency during the peak of the morning rush hour.

At least 198 people were initially reported injured and an unknown number of people, believed to have died.

Obaidullah Tarakhail, a police commander who was present when the attack began said: "This was one of the most powerful explosions I have ever heard in my life," adding "All around was dark and covered with thick smoke and dust."

The police commander said he could not see or hear anything for 20 minutes after the initial explosion.

The British Ambassador to Afghanistan, Dominic Jermey ‏condemned the attacked on the security agency saying it performed a vital role for the country.

He said "The #ANDSF are performing a vital role, courageously defending Afghan citizens from these terrorists."

Phillip Hammond, Secretary of State for Foreign & Commonwealth Affairs, condemned the attack saying "I condemn bomb attack in Kabul. Thoughts are w/ families. Taliban continues senseless attacks against civilians. UK stands w/ Afghanistan."

The US Embassy in Kabul has condemned the attack calling it a senseless act of violence.

Dr. Abdulla, The Chief Executive of the Afghan government office said: "Today’s terrorist attack in Kabul is a clear sign of terrorists’ hostility and enmity against the Afghan People", adding "Their fight is for foreign interests, fomentation of extremism & destruction of Afghanistan. This fight is against all norms & human laws."

He said the attack in Kabul, claimed by the Taliban, "signals the losses, weaknesses & defeats of the terrorists in battlefields against our heroic security forces" and that "Such attacks under all titles and names are off-cast, cussed, hated and anathematized. These undue & unjust attacks must stop."

Dr. Abdulla said "Our political elites must give priority to the national interests & defy terror attacks against the Afghans. Afghanistan must come first" and reassured that the: "ANDSF have clear orders to destroy enemies anytime and anywhere in Afghanistan. ANDSF will answer enemy’s bullet with a bullet."
