COVID-19 - Hope Raised As Local Co-operation Results In New Drug

A new drug developed in Nigeria - the result of local cooperation is raising hope against the Coronavirus, report by Legit claims.

The drug, called Pax CVD Plus, was developed by a group of Nigerian Catholic priests and  designed for the exclusive treatment of the coronavirus. The revelation was made on Wednesday, April 29 by Rev Father Anselm Adodo OSB.

The constituents of the drug are said to be antiviral and immunomodulatory agents that help to stimulate antibodies

A statement credited to Rev Father Anselm Adodo said: “The Pax CVD PLUS contains herbs and active phytoconstituents with documented scientific evidence based on clinical reports of their efficacy and safety.”

According to the report public by Legit, the research was a joint effort of experts from University of Lagos and University of Benin, a tertiary health institution—Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Edo state and experts sent by Prof Tunde Salako and Prof Catherine Adeyeye.

Professor Salako is the head of the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Development, while Professor Adeyeye is the director-general of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control.

A video posted on the official website of Pax Herbal Clinic and Research Laboratories, which is located in Ewu-Esan, Edo State, shows founder Rev. Father Anselm Adodo, answering questions about the new drug in the studeos of Arise News.

He said People still think that Herbal Medicine has to do with Witchcraft and fetish practices, but he said he has tried to change peoples perception by the changes he has made to blend science into herbal medicine.
