The United States has temporarily suspended contributions to the World Health Organisation, pending an investigation into the agency's  "failed response to the COVID-19 outbreak."

In the letter, President Trump said the W.H.O consistently ignored credible reports of the virus spreading in Wuham, China in early December, 2019.

President Trump said even WHO office in Beijing China was aware of an impending public health concern as early as 30 December, 2019 because this was highlighted by Chinese media between 26 and 30th of December, 2019, and still chose to do nothing about the news reports.

The letter said Taiwanese authorities also shared this information with the W.H.O, but the agency "chose not to share this critical information with the rest of the world, probably for political reasons."

The 4-page letter addressed to W.H.O's Director General, Ethiopian microbiologist and malaria researcher Dr. Tedros Adhanom, detailed several other reasons why funding was being withheld.

It was posted on Twitter by the US President.
