President Buhari, in another national broadcast eased the lockdown in Lagos, Ogun and the FCT, saying his decision was in line with recommendation of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, various federal government committees and the Nigeria Governors Forum..
New measures were also introduced, including a ban on non-essential inter-state passenger travel until further notice.
But the announcement will take effect from Saturday May 2. Those who hoped to hit town en-mass will have to wait for another week.
It comes as a relief however, as many Nigerians were already reeling in the after-effect of the lock-down, with depleting finances.
It is not clear whether schools will re-open on May 4 as being speculated. School administrators are seeking a further directive from the Ministry of education.
