* Farm Pigs: Source of Pork.
Tesco Stores today launched the Future Farmer Foundation designed which they say is designed to support the next generation of British farmers.
In a news briefing, Tesco said the Foundation was designed to `help bright, talented and determined young people make their own start in the world of agriculture that may involve inheritance of and taking over the family farm or embarking on a new business venture. Or they may be entering the industry for the first time.
Tesco said it will offer a minimum of fifteen young people a package of leadership training, business planning techniques, mentoring, supply chain experience and networking opportunities', in the first year of the foundatiion.
The High Street Grocer said as a team of over 530,000 people in 12 markets, it is dedicated to bringing the `best value, choice and service to our millions of customers each week'.
This Tesco-funded foundation is free for participants, and Successful applicants will be able to choose a programme suited to their own aspirations and business needs.
Richard Marris, Commercial Director of Fresh Foods at Tesco said: “We’re committed to the success of British agriculture, and we want the next generation of farmers, with all their energy, talent, and dedication, to be working with us for decades to come.
Mr. Marris said whether it’s guidance on succession planning, advice on financial management, or providing access to a world-leading supply chain, Tesco has developed the Future Farmer Foundation to be a strong base from which the farmers of tomorrow can launch themselves onto their chosen paths.
Tesco said "Our core purpose is 'we make what matters better, together'".
Tesco owns several stores in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, including its 24hr Woolwich Extra Store which occupies 86.000sqr ft. at the town centre's Woolwich Central development.
